Sybase IQ 16.0: Configure Sybase IQ ODBC connection from MS Windows 10

This post enumerates the steps to configure an ODBC connection to SAP Sybase IQ 16.0 from MS Windows 10.

Environment

  • MS Windows 10 Enterprise
  • SAP Sybase IQ 16.0SP11 ODBC Drivers

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Select Start->All apps->SAP->ODBC Administrator XX-bit (XX = 32 if you need
    to configure a connection using the 32 bits ODBC driver (XX = 64 if you need
    to configure a connection using the 64 bits ODBC driver).
  2. If not already selected, select the “User DSN” tab and click “Add”.
  3. On the “Create New Data Source” window, select “Sybase IQ” and click on the button “Finish”.
  4. On the “ODBC Configuration for SQL Anywhere” window, select the “ODBC” tab and enter the Data source name and the description.
  5. On the “Login” tab:
    1. select “Database” as authentication,
    2. enter your Sybase IQ database user and password,
    3. select “Connect to a running database on another server” as action,
    4. Enter the hostname, port number, server name and database name.
  6. On the “ODBC” tab, click on the button “Test Connection”. If the DSN was correctly configured
    a “Connection successful” note will display.

  7. You should see the newly created data source in the list. Click “OK” to close the “ODBC Data Source Administrator”.
