    mkdir /oracle

  4. Move the instanclient_11_2 directory to it permanent location.
    mv instanclient_11_2 /oracle

  5. Set the ORACLE_HOME environ variable to the permanent location of Oracle InstanClient.
    export ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/instanclient_11_2

  6. Create the sqlnet.ora file in the ORACLE_HOME directory.
    #example of content of sqlnet.ora file

    # Every line that begins with # is a comment line
    # You can modify the entry below for your own database.

    # sqlnet.ora Network Configuration File

    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

  7. Create the tnsnames.ora file in the ORACLE_HOME directory.
    #example of content of sqlnet.ora file

    MyDBServer_DSN =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = MyDBServer)(PORT = 1521))
