OBIEE 11g with Oracle 11g Data Source

Environment

  • OBIEE Plus 11.1.1.7 running on Solaris 10, Sun Sparc 64 architecture.
  • OBIEE Database repository on MS SQL 2008 running on Windows 2008 (64b).
  • Oracle DB 11g running on Windows Server 2008 SP2, 64 architecture.
  • Oracle client installed with Oracle Business Intelligence.

All the required client components are installed during the OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.7 installation, the only step are:

  1. Verify if the tnsnames.ora file exist in the $ORA_HOME/network/admin directory, if not, create it.
  2. Create in the tnsnames.ora file and entry for the Oracle DB server (see example bellow; personalize it with your Oracle DB server information).

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = MyHost)(PORT = 1522))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
